As part of the European Union Green Week (EU Green Week), the Greek partners of the AccelWater research project are organizing on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. a conference entitled “Circular Economy Opportunities for Greek Industries, Municipalities and Regions : AccelWater’s solutions’. The conference will take place in the city of Patras, and more specifically in the event hall of the My Way Hotel & Events (Leoforos Othonos Amalias 15, P.O. 26223, Patras).
Industries, businesses, regional and municipal authorities, chambers, research and other bodies will participate in the conference, while institutional actors and representatives from the relevant ministries and general secretariats will be present.
During the event, the strategies and opportunities of the European Union for Greek industries (Industrial Symbiosis and Industry 5.0), regions and cities (Circular Economy and Green Transition) will be presented, while the research results and innovations of the AccelWater project.

The AccelWater research project aims to accelerate the circularity of water in the food and beverage industries, which are characterized by high levels of water use. As part of the project, large-scale tests are carried out in five different industries: a brewery, a dairy factory, a food processing company, as well as tomato, pork and fish processing industries.
The aim of the project is to develop, integrate and demonstrate technologies for water recovery and reuse, waste utilization, energy recovery and reuse, but also to demonstrate modern information and communication technology (ICT) solutions to optimize food and beverage production, with an emphasis on water and environmental sustainability.
The corporate structure consists of 17 bodies (educational and research institutions, research & development companies, know-how transfer companies, food and beverage industries) from 4 countries (Greece, Italy, Spain and Iceland), while from Greece AGENSO participates (project coordinator), the National Technical University of Athens (Laboratory of Sanitary Technology of Civil Engineers & Laboratory of Design & Process Analysis of Chemical Engineers), the Research University Institute of Communication & Computer Systems (EPISEY), Athens Brewery S.A., FrieslandCampina Hellas S.A. – NOUNOU, Rezos Brands S.A. and DIGNITY IKE. The total duration of the project is 54 months.
